Senior Pastor's Welcome
I first visited Southtown Baptist Church in October of 1986. At that time, I was 19 years old, and a brand new Christian. Since the Christian life was new to me, I didn't look or act like much of a Christian. But from the moment I walked in the church door, the people of Southtown Baptist Church treated me like family. I thought to myself, "This must be the greatest church in the world!"
Over the last 24 years, I have served in the military and work world, married a wonderful wife and had three children, finished college, and trained for the Gospel ministry. I have had the opportunity to visit a hundred churches. I still believe, though, that Southtown Baptist Church is the greatest church in the world.
On February 1, 2008, I became the new senior pastor of Southtown Baptist Church. I count it an honor to lead Southtown. You have my word that I will always do my best to listen to Jesus, preach His word with truth and conviction, and see to it that Southtown Baptist Church treats you with the same love and kindness they have always shown to me. Pastor Patrick Nath
About Our Senior Pastor:
Pastor Patrick Nath was born in Hawaii in 1966. He grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated from high school here in 1985. Pastor Nath received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in North Carolina in 1986. He married Virginia York at Bible Baptist Church of Waukegan, Illinois in 1987. Pastor Nath served in the U.S. Navy for seven years, and is a Gulf War veteran. Before entering full-time ministry, he worked in safety and environmental consulting. Pastor was ordained here at Southtown Baptist Church in 1995, then left for 12 years of church planting in western Kansas, prior to returning to Southtown as senior pastor in 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and family counseling from Barclay College. Pastor and Virginia have three daughters, Victoria, Vania, and baby Vivianna. In addition to church ministry, Pastor Nath is a chaplain with the Iowa State Patrol, and also an active distance runner.
